The minute you begin asking for permission, is the minute you begin getting in your way.
*(You can quote me on that. I speak from experience.)

Stop Asking For Permissionshe has greatness in her hand.
sorry to state the obvious.

I will reblog this every time it comes up, because it is that awesome.
My first boss at UTA once told me “No one is ever going to give you permission.” I remind myself of that as often as possible.
I’m finding the Craiglist web series to be very entertaining.
From the YouTube page:
Craigslist tv is a new documentary series that follows real craigslist users, in real time, as they use craigslist to make things happen.
New Mediacracy Episode 13: The One About the IAWTV
It’s a lively one, and a bigger group than usual joins us on this episode, which we recorded immediately after the first Los Angeles meeting of the IAWTV which took place at the WGA. Tony Valenzuela, Casey McKinnon, Barrett Garese, Brett Register, and Rudy Jahchan join regulars Chris McCaleb, Zadi Diaz, and Steve Woolf to share their thoughts on the meeting and what it means for the future of the first organized member body dedicated to web video.
We spend some time talking about the Streamys, but a lot more time talking about the things we took away from the meeting and what the ramifications are for everyone invested in making web video a sustainable, progressive medium. Also, we drink wine and laugh a lot.
Most importantly, listen and leave a comment so we can get some outside feedback on the topics we discuss, such as the idea of the new gatekeepers, why we are trying so hard to replicate tv and film models, the vision of the IAWTV, and Chris McCaleb jumping out of planes.
Fun! Forbidden Zone, directed by Richard Elfman (Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo), will have its New York color premiere March 20, 2010 at the Museum of Modern Art, in conjunction with the Tim Burton exhibition. It’s also opening as a stage musical at the Sacred Fools Theater in LA on May 21st!
:)
Today we announced that we’re opening an L.A. office for blip.tv and hiring the awesome Steve Woolf from Epic Fu to be our West Coast Director of Content Development.
Check out the story by Liz Shannon Miller on blip.tv’s West Coast expansion on NewTeeVee here.
Steve knows all aspects of producing, distributing and monetizing a Web show through his work with Zadi Diaz on Epic Fu. He’s been working with us at blip.tv since we started the company 5 years ago. We couldn’t be more excited about expanding operations out West, working more closely with the incredible talent in Los Angeles, and having Steve on board. This is a great day for blip.tv, and for show creators looking to stay independent and build a brand on their own terms.
Absolutely! Great things ahead. :)
Super excited about this. I love Steve and Blip.tv both so much. This is going to be huge for the community, you watch.
Hundreds of thousands of people devote their lives from childhood to learning to twirl their legs rapidly (dancers), or to touch notes and strings very rapidly (musicians), or to draw with paint and represent what they see (artists), or to turn every phrase inside out and find a rhyme to every word. And these people, often very kind and clever, and capable of all sorts of useful labour, grow savage over their specialised and stupefying occupations and become one-sided and self-complacent specialists, dull to all the serious phenomena of life, and skilful at rapidly twisting their legs, their tongues, and their fingers.
My head is exploding. WTF? Skewed is a very kind word. There’s a long battle ahead and we are running out of time.
Remember folks: The WSJ opinion section is where facts go to die. If it’s so skewed that it can’t legally be called objective news, don’t worry, we’ll just run it in opinion.
Go ahead and read this, and then wonder whether we’re winning or losing with Net Neutrality.
