Finally saw Hugo last night. I think it’s now my favorite film. Amazing.

For online video fans, two new eps of New Mediacracy are up where a bunch of us review 2011 and drink a shit ton of wine.
With GigaOm writer and Attack of the Show staff writer Liz Miller, writer/producer Bernie Su, IAWTV Award nominee and writer/director Brett Register, and What’s Trending CEO (also an IAWTV Award nominee) Damon Berger. Joining them is producer and Disney creative exec Zadi Diaz, and producer and Blip VP of Content Steve Woolf, all anchored by two-time Emmy nominee, writer/director Chris McCaleb.
Forgot to post this last week. Had a great time talking about the world of online video with these folks. Realized how much I missed having our regular New Mediacracy chats. Here’s to a great 2012.
CES 2012: Samsung’s smart window of the future
Now this is what I’m talking about. At CES, Samsung showed off a smart window, where you can surf the internet, check your email, tweet or whatever on a normal looking window, even adjust virtual blinds. My friend Paul, who alerted me to this video, was at CES and got to try it out first hand and confirmed yes, it was indeed the best thing at the whole show.
I missed this at the show, but it looks totally bad-ass. The LG 55” OLED 3D TV’s were so sexy I wanted to lick the goddamn screen. Thinner than an iPhone.

Holy cow! Somehow I got the entire Joyful Noise choir to sing me happy birthday. This is pretty awesome. Thanks guys, that felt really nice. I have to see the movie now. :)

Finally going to go see Young Adult. Have heard mixed reviews, but still hopeful!
**Note: Saw it and thought Charlize Theron and Patton Oswalt gave really great performances. Charlize’s portrayal of Mavis kept me uncomfortably entertained all the way through. Many of us know this person (or maybe sometimes are this person), and that’s a bit unsettling. I understand the mixed reviews (especially regarding the character’s arc), but would recommend seeing it. The “lack” of character arc, I think, is what makes it interesting. It’s tough to pull, but often true to nature.
Start your new year off with a kiss.
