Maybe (1958) - The Chantels

Mad Men has me going through my own personal 1950/60’s revival. Seems silly to say, since I wasn’t alive during that era, but I have the fondest memories of listening to Doo Wop songs while visiting my aunt’s house in Long Island — a welcome respite from the South Bronx of my childhood (they had a back yard and a pool).

The Chantels were also from the Bronx and really marked the beginning of the girl group sound. Maybe is one of my favorites. I forgot how much I loved this song. :)

Other things that happened in 1958: 14 year old Bobby Fischer won the US Chess Championship, NASA was formally created and the word Aerospace was coined, the peace symbol was created, Bossa Nova was born, the first IHOP opened — all in the midst of the Cold War and the Cuban Revolution.
