“When you read this sentence to yourself, it’s likely that you hear the words in your head. Now, in what amounts to technological telepathy, others are on the verge of being able to hear your inner dialogue too. By peering inside the brain, it is possible to reconstruct speech from the activity that takes place when we hear someone talking. The implications are enormous – people made mute through paralysis or locked-in syndrome could regain their voice. It might even be possible to read someone’s mind. Imagine a musician watching a piano being played with no sound, says Brian Pasley at the University of California, Berkeley. “If a pianist were watching a piano being played on TV with the sound off, they would still be able to work out what the music sounded like because they know what key plays what note,” Pasley says. His team has done something analogous with brain waves, matching neural areas to their corresponding noises.”

The Lions Mane Jellyfish is the largest jellyfish in the world. They have been swimming in arctic waters since before the dinosaurs (over 650 million years ago) and are among some of the oldest surviving species in the world.

The largest can come in at about 6 meters and has tentacles over 50 meters long. Pretty amazing when you think these things have been swimming around for so long.

They have hundreds of poisonous tentacles that it used to catch passing by fish. it then slowly drags in it’s prey and eats it.

That is terrifying.

CES 2012: Samsung’s smart window of the future

Now this is what I’m talking about. At CES, Samsung showed off a smart window, where you can surf the internet, check your email, tweet or whatever on a normal looking window, even adjust virtual blinds. My friend Paul, who alerted me to this video, was at CES and got to try it out first hand and confirmed yes, it was indeed the best thing at the whole show.

I missed this at the show, but it looks totally bad-ass. The LG 55” OLED 3D TV’s were so sexy I wanted to lick the goddamn screen. Thinner than an iPhone.

I know about art, I reblog that all the time.
